Advertising and a free & open internet are antithetical. Look at how much social media, YouTube, ADL etc. are all collaborating on how to curtail free speech because of and on behalf of advertisers.
- _heimdall 2y agoTargeted advertising and a free & open internet are antithetical. There's nothing wrong with sites that embed the same ad for everyone, much like you would do for print advertising.
- account42 2y agoRegular advertising is what brought us targetted advertising in the first place. Greed doesn't stop at a sustainable profit. The internet was much better when most websites were not profit driven.
