Why would they when Homebrew was amateurish compared to MacPorts built by Apple engineers? (For e.g. it didn't follow accepted unix conventions or macOs conventions on installing libraries for a long time. But credit where credit due - the founder is a better marketer than developer and more people know about Homebrew than MacPorts.
