I think the strength based feedback was a good way of summarizing what a lot of my favorite managers did since I've started working. Focusing on encouraging engineers to play to their strengths helps the team as a whole and encourages working together more. The point about fixing a real weakness resulting in being mediocre in one area for a lot of effort really sticks with me. Can't apply for everything, but focusing on strengths is more motivating.
