In all fairness to MS, HP's waffling over whether they were selling their desktop/laptop/othertop business or not and Dell's acquisition of Perot Systems to become a more services oriented company are flags worth noting. MS isn't bleeding edge, but they seem to be reading the leaves pretty well.
