I can only imagine how we would get by if we lost most of the livestock across the world. I remember I forget if it was last year or the year before but Abbotsford outside of Vancouver flooded and tens of thousands of chickens were lost. I saw that and ran to the store and bought a bunch of chicken. A day later a lot of the shelves were pretty bare. Thankfully I believe some was shipped up from Washington or maybe it was Alberta but it was definitely noticed. I could not imagine a global outbreak wiping out much more livestock and how people would manage.
Also how would businesses continue if they could not serve meat for a period of time? I can't imagine the economical impact this would have. And if this broke out into human transmission then things would really hit the fan.
