I thought Maxmind was the gold standard or am I old?
- solardev 2y agoMy main reference point with them is that their free IP geolocation database is terrible, and every time I find a geolocation error on a website, it's almost always because they're using that DB (https://dev.maxmind.com/geoip/geolite2-free-geolocation-data https://dev.maxmind.com/geoip/geolite2-free-geolocation-data). I've come to equate MaxMind with "bad data"... would be afraid to trust them with anything, unless their paid services are dramatically better.
