IIRC I had issues with inotify when I was editing files on a remote machine via SSHFS, when these files were being used inside a Docker container. inotify inside the container did not trigger the notifications, whereas it did, when editing a file with an editor directly on that host. I think this was related to FUSE, that Docker just didn't get notified.
