Post-truth medicine: a charade that relies on symbols of evidence-based medicine
- yawpitch 2y agoThe confirmation bias is thick with this one.
- tremole 2y agoI think that's part of it but, as the author alludes to, there's also conformity bias and selection bias in this area of medical research.
- yawpitch 2y agoSure… as there is in any and every area of medical research. But from the “post-truth” in the title to the faux-air quotes around the entire concept of gender identity to just all the circular reasoning that suffuses every word of this polemic diatribe, it’s just one bigot (and from her other output she really is bigoted) preaching to a choir of one.
- tremole 2y agoOkay, sounds like you're just nitpicking and ranting. Do you have any substantive criticisms of the article? Or counterarguments to the author's points?
- yawpitch 2y agoMy substantive criticism is that the author makes no substantive argument or point at all; she starts by preaching to her choir and she ends with it, at no point does she attempt to communicate anything whatsoever to anyone who isn’t already fully subscribed to her worldview, nor does she display even slightest capacity for self-reflection. Then you look at her other work, and it’s nothing but more navel-gazing. I could go through and point out the numerous examples of begging the question, but you’d no doubt deploy “nitpicking” again, albeit meaningfully this time.
