I don't think most people who are reasonably into AI think we're on the cusp of AGI. But I think it's made a lot of people who previously said "it will never be possible" rethink their feelings about it. Definitely in the coming decade, we can prepare for a lot of the simpler tasks in an office to be taken over by AI. There are plenty of scenarios in which someone is managing a spreadsheet because an SME doesn't have the money to hire developers to automate & maintain that process - with advanced LLMs they can get it done by asking it to.
