I used to love watching basketball. I hate all the ads now and don't want to have my kids see that.
But, what's the alternative?
Going to a live event, for two bad teams, for four people, cost me over $500 a year ago. I can't afford that.
Youth sports?
I live in Florida, and was hoping Jai Alai (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jai_alai https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jai_alai) would be a weird respite, but that was the original gamblers refuge.
- Spivak 2y agoCollege basketball for an unranked school probably fits the bill. I go watch my local uni's volleyball team play and it's super low budget, all run by volunteers, the fans are invested and local, and it's just all-around wholesome.
