Hey Hacker News, I’m excited to introduce AI Therapist Free, a project I have been working on for a while. Its aimed at providing free, instant, and judgment-free therapy sessions through an AI chatbot. With mental health being so vital, I wanted to create a resource where anyone can express their thoughts without barriers. One of the important feature is all conversations are stored locally on the user’s device so no data is sent to servers, protecting your privacy. Built with Next.js and Firebase. Of course, this tool is intended as a supplement to traditional therapy, not a full replacement. I definitely dont think AI should be a solution to this, and I'm not even too sure if it should even a supplement to this, I've struggled with depression and other mental health issues a lot and I have tried using AI tools as a void to scream into before, and I really dont think AI should be used in this way. I know that you advertise it as a "supplement to traditional therapy" but we both know that it's not going to be used just for that. I think using AI tools for this is very sensitive and should be done with a __lot__ of care. I know everyone has different experiences with this, but I personally disagree with using and advertising an AI tool explicitly for this reason.

  Thanks for your views and i appreciate that. I understand your viewpoint. I never build this tool as a replacement but more of a gap fill between real therapist sessions or just a way for people to talk to someone when they want to just let out their feelings.

    I like that you are marketing it as a supplement, it's a lot better than a number of other people who would market a product like this in a predatory way, and I think that's commendable. I'm curious how this product will grow, and I wish you luck with this.
