If we knew for a fact there was an alien society living lives similar to ours on some planet, sure, I agree. But if we found out that there are bacteria-like micro-organisms on Europa, or even "fish" in the oceans there, I don't agree that this would change anything in the outlook of the vast majority of people on Earth, even subtly.
