For the last three or four years, I've been working on a technique (or, really, class of techniques) for solving ordinary differential equations. On average, I squeeze in maybe 10-15 hours a month on it, mainly just working over lunch and some spare time on weekends. I'd love to have a month or two, to make the final push I think it'll take to finish working out the original idea.
