Kudos, this is a really nice project!
I've got a couple of questions though, if you don't mind:
- Can you order batteries in the online shop? My concern is that after a while the battery breaks down and the device becomes effectively bricked.
- Can the device run/boot without a battery in it? Then it would make some nice base for DIY projects
- Does your firmware for the screen support libinput?
- As far as I can tell, FydeOS seems to be your Chromium OS fork. Is it possible to dual boot from multiple partitions with the device? Aka does it support MBR records or similar? Dual booting Fyde/Arch would be amazing, especially as a device that's with you on the go.
- Archie627 2y agoHey, thanks for the questions, really appreciate it! - Right now, we don’t sell replacement batteries in the online shop. Shipping batteries can be tricky since a lot of couriers treat them as hazardous material. But if there's enough demand in the future, we’ll look into other options for offering replacements. - Yes, the Fydetab Duo can run without a battery! We’ve tested it, so it’s definitely something you could use for DIY projects if that’s what you’re thinking. - And yep, our firmware does support libinput, so you're covered there. - As for dual booting, the easiest method at the moment is to flash another Linux OS onto a MicroSD card and boot from that. We’ve successfully dual-booted Arch and FydeOS using UEFI, and we’re looking into making dual booting from the internal eMMC possible in the future. Also, the Fydetab Duo can take an LTE module, so if you’re after portability, that’s a solid option too. Let me know if you need more info!
