- jjulius 2y agoThis is a black and white perspective, while the world happens to be quite nuanced.
- phs318u 2y agoYou’re assuming that the other party in this transaction is rational. If there’s one thing that should be obvious to all by now it’s that humans as consumers can be incredibly irrational to the point where entire industries have flourished by gaming this irrationality for the aforementioned purpose of squeezing even greater profits.
- DanHulton 2y agoThat's not the slam dunk you think it is. Not everyone believes a completely unrestricted market is a good thing. Regulations, for example, exist for good reasons, and when deregulation happens to an industry, boy, do you ever have to get ready to remember the good old days fondly. There is an inherent power imbalance in a lot of transactions, and an utterly free market allows that imbalance to be exploited _ruthlessly._
