"YouTube is still making an effort to secure exclusive content"
The whole reason I actually favor YouTube is that it's already got more "exclusive content" than all the rest of the other streaming platforms combined. It may not have super-produced content that takes hundreds of people to produce, but it's got so much STUFF that it blows everything else away in the aggregate. There is an art to navigating YouTube for sure, because The Algorithm wants to stick you with all kinds of lowest-common-denominator content. I find that if I do indulge in the occasional Cute Animal Video I need to go remove it from my watch history to retain the discovery capabilities of the platform (because it'll serve you Cute Animal Videos until the end of time if it gets even a whiff that you want that), but there's so much stuff in my YouTube channel list that is just non-existent on the other streaming platforms.
Hollywood et al is still a bit myopic on this front. If it didn't cost at least a million dollars they don't consider it "real content". Well, the money YouTube made on all of the videos made from ideas Hollywood wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole is plenty real.
I agree with almost every criticism of YouTube that could be made... but it's still where you can find, to pick just one example out of my subscription set, 3Blue1Brown. You are never going to see CBS just airing a 3Blue1Brown video one evening, or Peacock, or HBO Max. By the time that statement is untrue the world will have shifted so much that CBS isn't CBS anymore.
