The idea behind "BreakTheLoser" was inspired by the YouTuber FitxFearless, who suggested an approach to breaking addictions by creating financial accountability. The concept is similar to paying a friend or hiring someone to charge you money every time you engage with adult content.
I simply took this concept online. I don't even pay for ads or promotion—this was just another project to add to my portfolio. Again, thank you for pointing out the mistake, and I appreciate the feedback.

At most you’d retain only the breakeven costs of hosting the site, and you’d do that very transparently. Having the payment flow to your own bank account is simply and clearly exploiting the shame and pain of others for your own financial gain. If your moral / ethical code allows for that, your moral / ethical code is fatally flawed. The fact you don’t pay for ads or promote the fact that this portfolio piece exploits people doesn’t reduce or negate the fact that the only thing it does is exploit people. At minimum since you’ve at least acknowledged you’re subject to someone else’s law, so now I know you can understand that it’s wrong to leverage your schadenfreude.
- charonhim 2y agoI really love the idea of adding a charity aspect, and I’ll probably go for it. Thanks again for your feedback.
- yawpitch 2y agoA site that allowed those who feel they need this kind of negative feedback gamification to contribute their financial penalty to worthy causes would be a worthwhile thing to build. The thing to consider then is the reason why this whole idea is dubious; you end up replacing one dopamine hit (adult content) with another (either financial pain in the worst case or feeling good about at least donating in the best case). Personally I think there are many better ways to beat this particular self-abusive behavior than leaning harder on the idea that it deserves more self-abuse. Either way, making it a non-profit donation to something trying to address the real problem will be a huge step up from falling for the siren song of profit motivation.
