  Getting Russia to give up on an invasion is a reasonable goal. Afghanistan and Vietnam "defeated" the US with the same objective, so it's far from impossible.

    And the US was far more resourced than Russia currently is. If Ukraine can keep up with attacks on Russian petroleum infra into winter, it could permanently shut a material amount of their production capacity for years.

  That victory? Call it what you want. But given the 10 percent of GDP they need to burn annually to keep the wheels on their optional colonial project turning -- they only have so much runway. Ukraine, by contrast -- just needs to survive. In that sense, they have a lot more going for them.
