- adaml_623 14y agoThere are a large number of reasons why people are requested to not donate blood: * Hepatitis or Jaundice in the last 12 months * Tattoo within the last 4 months * Ever worked as a prostitute * Ever injected yourself with drugs * Received blood during any medical treatment or procedure anywhere in the world since 1/1/1980 * Anyone who has been sexually active in parts of the world where AIDS/HIV is very common * Plus the reasons detailed in the article. Those reasons were all arrived at after careful study and deliberation Discrimination is real but this is an important issue that needs to be handled by looking at the full context of the problem.
