Programming is demoralizing because everyone expects you to hit the ground running. HR never gets fired because of high turnover.
No one lets you see the kind of garbage you will be dealing with until you accept the offer and get access two weeks later.
It's lack of training. Just admit it, 99% of senior engineers refuse to train. They also refuse to admit when they've made a mistake by writing dead-end code. Their fault or not, doesn't matter.
