I encourage my team to think in terms of domain (like DDD), similar to the author’s approach of demarcating by “business unit.” If something is a coherent domain and can (mostly) stand alone, keep it all together in the same service; otherwise, make a new service for your new domain. The trick, of course, is knowing how broad a domain to cut out of your web of services and responsibilities.
