A big problem with "verified" (e.g. LinkedIn and the massage they sell it to you with) is it is a transaction which involves giving them what is ideally nonpublic information: would you trust them with nonpublic information? How much recourse you demonstrably have against e.g. Transunion, Experian, Equifax?
