But all those huge tariffs are about to kick in though and skyrocket prices so that adoption curve is going to be slowing down, a lot, at least in the US
And those are not tariffs from the previous administration, that's the current one, under the guise that it will increase American production/sales, which it won't because the US can't compete with nearly free slave labor and the manufacturing barely even exists here.
- toomuchtodo 2y agoThe three top countries by electrical generation emissions are currently the US, China, and India. While the tariffs are inefficient from a decarbonization perspective, China and India have enough energy demand that they should be able to sink most of the solar and battery production coming out of China. The US, in due time, will catch up. https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/carbon-intensity-electricity https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/carbon-intensity-electric... https://www.utilitydive.com/news/grid-interconnection-queue-berkeley-lab-lbnl/712926/ https://www.utilitydive.com/news/grid-interconnection-queue-... https://cgs.umd.edu/sites/default/files/2022-07/US%20Coal%20Phase-Out%20Brief%20%282%29.pdf https://cgs.umd.edu/sites/default/files/2022-07/US%20Coal%20... https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-09-17/generation-says-nothing-else-matters-as-much-as-grid-upgrades https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-09-17/generatio... | https://archive.today/HvPlb https://archive.today/HvPlb (Control -f "Solar, Wind and Battery Storage Projects Dominate Grid Queues in US and Europe"; draw attention to the graphic) https://coal.sierraclub.org/coal-plant-map https://coal.sierraclub.org/coal-plant-map (lets not get into the per capita argument in this thread; I'm not saying it isn't valid, I am simply focused on physical systems vs accounting)

I guess it's the sort of news neither political side sees an advantage in propagating.
