Meta is weird because Zuckerberg has a controlling stake. As he has shown with the VR/Metaverse push, he has the ability to get Meta to invest heavily in new businesses that have high risk / high potential. I suspect that if he thinks that Gen AI will substitute for social media, then that will lead him to invest more in Gen AI, not less, and try to be a winner in the AI platform business.
