- codefeenix 2y agoGreat video about this on Applied Science's channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvzWaVvB908 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvzWaVvB908
- maxden 2y agoArticle is from 2018 and the effect has been discussed previously. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=18340693 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=18340693
- ortusdux 2y agoHow do iPhones handle partial vacuums? I've used a vac chamber to speed up helium off-gassing from poisoned rubber gaskets in the past.
- Kirby64 2y agoFor the electronics I would expect it’s fine. The oscillators should be sealed. Whatever is inside the MEMS cavity would be okay. Now, all the mechanical stuff presumably expects some sort of normal atmospheric pressure, so YMMV on speakers, haptics, and any of the camera OIS. It’s all water sealed these days, though.
