Energy transparency is a clever concept and a welcome one. The obvious solution is data centers powered on renewable/nuclear power, which doesn’t seem to be the point of this initiative. “accelerating climate crisis” seems a tad disingenuous given how vocal the leaders in AI have been on this topic. This also frames AI is a “no value add” vs search. Just use perplexity. It’s pretty clear it is way more valuable than search, at least for now where everyone is eager to prove AI can solve the user’s actual problem (vs use it as a wedge to drive other agendas).
