Did you check your profile, not your settings? My email settings were unchanged, but on my public profile they were different and had been set to a facebook address. I think it's easy to understate the importance of this, personally, and don't mind the multiple stories. I'm extremely annoyed at this - I don't want this email address, that I do not control, be published as some kind of contact point for me.
