I'm sorry this happened to a kid. But the "Youth Poisoning Protection Act" says: "To ban the sale of products with a high concentration of sodium nitrite to individuals, and for other purposes." It doesn't say anything about age; it's a total ban. There seem to be quite a few posts online about using this for self-euthanasia. I have no idea whether this compound is a good choice for that, but if it is, adults will no longer have access to it either.
