It seems like OpenAI is trying to build a moat now, each generation appears to be less and less open to the point that you can't even see LLM reasoning steps. It's been a while since we've had a major tech company commodify/open source a major dependency (and not just layer some rent seeking pay/subscription service over existing assets). Meta seems to have the best long term plan for LLMs.
