My solution was five-fold:
1. Remove ALL social media apps
2. Disable all audio alerts
3. Keep an aggressive Do Not Disturb schedule
4. Enable phone ringing only for calls from people in my contacts list
5. Keep the phone put away and out of sight until actually needed
I use my phone for:
- Communication - primary purpose (text, WhatsApp, Teams - no email)
- Camera
- Banking, Shipment Tracking and the like
- Music software (hobbies)
This keeps me focused on the phone being a tool to do something, that is, get things done. This goes along with keeping the phone put away until you actually need to do something. If your phone is out and you're not doing something for which you could ascribe a SMART goal, then put it away.
- richrichie 2y agoLike sugar and carbs in diet, things slowly creep back up. I am old now, but i have read so many articles claiming a near magical solution (ie low carb => lost 20kg) and them one never hears from the author again. I would like to imagine she/he was ashamed that things mean reverted and is keeping a low profile.
- taylodl 2y agoBeen doing this for five years. Nothing has slowly crept back up. This strategy is much easier to adhere to than a diet, trust me, I know! :)
- richrichie 2y agoIt is a way to manipulate satiety while cutting calories. 5 years is about time to wreck metabolism for long term. I have been on this no carb madness for similar lengths of time and trust me, it wrecks the metabolism.
