Florida officials investigate voters who signed abortion ballot initiative
- beretguy 2y agoLand of the free my as.
- ang_cire 2y agoClear cut voter intimidation.
- Simulacra 2y agoI don't think this arises to intimidation. It anything it will galvanize people. They can and will still vote, investigating the process by which the ballot measure occurred is not intimidation.
- instaclay 2y agoThe massage on the surface: "We want to make sure these signatures are real. We want to protect these democratic processes." The message: "We know who you are. We know where you work. We know where you sleep. We know how you vote. We know."
- atmavatar 2y agoWould you mind explaining your rationale for such a conclusion? To my mind, a very clear message is being sent: the state is willing and ready to exercise its power against anyone who supports the initiative. I'm open to other interpretations so long as they can be reasonably explained, though.
- ang_cire 2y agoPeople don't want cops coming to their homes with files on them. Florida is telling people that if they support an abortion protection amendment, they will send cops to your home with files on you. Clear intimidation.
- josefritzishere 2y agoThe word "Investigate" is not normally a synonym for "Voter Intimidation."
