- eszed 2y agoI hope that “How Side Effects Can Improve Treatment Efficacy: A Randomized Trial" cites Stephen Maturin (~1770-??), a member of the Royal Society and sometime physician in service with the British Navy, who habitually mixed asafoetida powder into medication he compounded for seamen, upon the observation that a foul taste improved both dose-response and adherence to treatment regimem.
