- c0nducktr 2y agoThe largest cause is the burning of fossil fuels. Who champions that? Who's lobbying to keep us on that form of energy?
- FrustratedMonky 2y agoGuess you're right. If you see someone being mugged, you have no responsibility to help, and if you were talking to the mugger and pointed to the old lady and suggested that would be easy mark, no fault on you, you didn't do a thing.

- soperj 2y agoIt's been less than 10 years since they had an all time high for summer sea ice extent.
- FrustratedMonky 2y agohad to check. confirmed. article "As recently as September 2014, Antarctic sea ice set an all-time record-high extent. The consecutive string of low sea ice extents in recent years, however, are not easily explained by natural climate variability." https://www.climate.gov/news-features/event-tracker/antarctic-sea-ice-summer-minimum-ties-second-lowest-record-2024#:~:text=As%20recently%20as%20September%202014,shift%20in%20Antarctic%20sea%20ice https://www.climate.gov/news-features/event-tracker/antarcti.... The article describes maybe a larger oscillation between highs and lows is occurring.
- Arnt 2y agoVolume doesn't seem to have been particularly high in 2014, though. Here's a graph of estimated ice volume since 1979: https://psc.apl.uw.edu/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/schweiger/ice_volume/BPIOMASIceVolumeAnomalyCurrentV2.1.png https://psc.apl.uw.edu/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/schweige...
