- lolinder 2y agoThe line seems pretty obvious—diplomatic immunity is a trade between sovereign states of "we won't harass your diplomats if you don't harass ours". It has negative repercussions but also has a clear gain for the state's interests. This is just corruption.
- rbanffy 2y agoAlso, even diplomatic immunity has limits.
- lolinder 2y agoWell, I'm sure this does too. It wouldn't last very long if someone murdered someone and got out of it because they had a plastic card that said they were a friend of an officer. At some point even NYC would intervene.
- acdha 2y agoYou wouldn’t see them not investigate but if he surprised if there wasn’t a quiet effort to write the report to support a self-defense narrative. Conflicts of interest around group loyalty don’t need to be explicit.
- smegger001 2y agoYeah its not like a diplomats wife can hit and kill a motorcyclists flee the scene and then country and on their return then be given a token sentence then have it immediately suspended.
