After 155 years, the Campbell Soup company is changing its name
- karlgkk 2y agoThis is pretty interesting, I didn't realize they were that old or independent. It's crazy to see how they managed to own a niche successfully for so long.
- smallerfish 2y agoRelated: I'm reading the book Ultra Processed People right now, and thoroughly recommend it. (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/62586003-ultra-processed-people https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/62586003-ultra-processed...)
- DrNosferatu 2y agoApple also dropped “Computer” from its name.
- petemc_ 2y agoGrowing up, people with the surname Campbell often got the nickname soup or soupy.
- davidt84 2y ago"Legacy food companies like Campbell are pivoting to gain a larger share of the snack narket" What is "legacy food"??
- NovemberWhiskey 2y agoLegacy (food companies) not (legacy food) companies; I think?
- sverona 2y ago"Legacy" modifies "companies."
- numpad0 2y agoas opposed to innovative startup New Food, like Nestle, Kraft, Danone, ... /s
- Eumenes 2y agoIt should be: Campbell Ultraprocessed Seed Oil Hydrolyzed Protein Slop
- FredPret 2y agoI always thought this brand belonged to a big food company, but turns out they're not only independent but doing pretty well too: https://valustox.com/CPB https://valustox.com/CPB
- scblock 2y agoNot interesting. Dropping "Soup" from the company name as like most big companies these days they own a lot of other things.
- riffraff 2y agoyeah not having actually seen any Campbell product outside of art and faux art, I assumed the name of the company was "Campbell" and "Campbell Soup" was something like "MicroSoft Office".
- alephnerd 2y agoGoldfish? Hannover snacks? Pepperidge Farms? This is why they dropped the "Soup" from Campbell's Soup Company.
- commodoreboxer 2y agoThe point is that many (maybe most) of us didn't even realize that "soup" was part of the company's name. I always assumed something like "Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup" was by the company "Campbell" or "Campbell's". Nobody calls it "Campbell's Soup Company Chicken Noodle Soup".
