TBH I would love a pixel framebuffer standard for terminals that's fast enough to run things like Doom, emulators, or simple UI applications in the terminal. The Sixels standard exists but has a too complicated pixel encoding.
- immibis 2y agoThat's every GUI system, though. /dev/fb0, or X11. We don't have to force it to fit into a character stream abstraction for some silly reason. Different abstractions are allowed to be different.
