Starbucks' new CEO wants to make Starbucks a coffee shop again
- sandspar 2y agoHard to see how comfy chairs are going to convince people to buy an $8 drink every day.
- ironmagma 2y agoA lot easier to see than how uncomfy chairs would do the same.
- underlogic 2y agocould they fix the gd coffee? I refuse to buy it. ashes in your mouth, clearly burnt and nauseating. I always go to Phils (not to be confused with Peets) for a good cup a' joe the starbucks bathrooms are very nice. they should charge a dollar to use them and just give up on the coffee. in fact they could just charge by the hour to use the chairs and bathrooms and people would still go. at this point I think the customers are just buying the coffee out of guilt or to not be thrown out for being cheap. starbucks is a business with no real product
- moi2388 2y agoTheir non-coffee beverages are pretty tasty imo. Very unhealthy and overpriced, but tasty. The coffee is garbage.
- musicale 2y agoI am sure you will appreciate this nuanced analysis: https://fullcoffeeroast.com/philz-coffee-vs-starbucks/ https://fullcoffeeroast.com/philz-coffee-vs-starbucks/ disclaimer: I am not a member of the Philz cult - or Starbucks' PSL cult. There probably isn't much overlap between the two groups.
- JohnFen 2y agoI rarely go to Starbucks because I don't like their coffee. But I was going through a Starbucks drive-through recently and noticed a weird thing: At most coffee places, when you're outside the building then what you smell is coffee. What I smelled outside of the Starbucks was pretty close to the scent of a candy store. I didn't detect even a hint of coffee. According to my nose, anyway, Starbucks is simply not a coffee shop.
- treebeard901 2y agoIt smelled like a candy store because Starbucks is a sugar shop. Coffee is a small percentage of what they sell.
- fattybob 2y agoAbout time, it was once, briefly, the go to coffee shop (Singapore days then), then it was never again, it just became a sweet drink place like so many others - with high computer tolerance levels which kinda locked in customers, sm not sure I would ever trust them to make a decent coffee again though
- musicale 2y agoIIRC they retired the original Clover machine, but there is a replacement for it?
