Cars collect troves of data about traffic and road hazards.Should they share it?
- bell-cot 2y agoNo mention of how well/poorly the envisioned systems of communicating smart vehicles/roads might deal with malicious actors. Nor mention of spending any of their big budget on "boring" stuff (vs. cool/creepy) - like some Quick FixIt road work trucks, to remove debris / push stalled cars onto the shoulder / patch potholes.
- uberman 2y agoOur devices already overshare information about us. The notion that all cars should be connected to each other is a security nightmare. The claim that all data will be anonymous is clearly a lie. No entity that collects data today is able to resist reselling it.
- JohnFen 2y agoCars (or any machine) shouldn't share any data whatsoever without having the uncoerced informed consent of the owner first.
