I do use self-hosted solutions. On the road I use a m1 macbook air (I dislike Macs and believe its users are victims of themselves, but I got it for free). One advantage is certainly its performance for running LLM. At home I do have a decent GPU and it is even faster, ready for serious code completion and annotations. I also enjoy uncensored models. It is refreshing that some models seem quite enthusiastic to explain to you how to build nuclear weapons.
