AWS Graviton4 vs. AmpereOne 192-Core Benchmarks for Leading AArch64 Performance
- rbanffy 2y agoThese very different results, and some surprising outliers, lead me to believe there is a lot more happening on Amazon’s Graviton servers than on the “consumer grade” hardware. Also, one would need to compare performance per dollar adjusting AWS ongoing costs as a single payment for five years of machine operation (or a n-year lease) compared to the upfront cost of the Ampere solution. As for power, I assume Graviton 4 power consumption to be at least double, if not more, than the Ampere one, as it’s two sockets with 1.5x more memory modules on a datacenter setting when the Ampere solution puts a lot of emphasis on power efficiency.
