Do サトシ (Satoshi) or ナカモト (Nakamoto) mean anything in Japanese?
- generalizations 2y agoSubmitted because I read recently about the pun possibly in the name - see the accepted answer here (https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/a/83887 https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/a/83887). Satoshi = wisdom/sense naka = middle moto = base/root/origin Which bears some similarity to the name 'central intelligence'. Heh.
- lifthrasiir 2y agoThe thing is that, many Japanese given names (Satoshi here) are constructed to be meaningful in a positive way anyway. Nakamoto is a well-known surname that is at least several centuries old and thought to mean some central land, though its ultimate origin is unclear (one theory is that it comes from important [or "central"] members of Murakami pirates [1]). Of course Satoshi Nakamoto is clearly a pseudonym so it may have been picked according to literal or even mistook meanings, but it may equally have been picked randomly too. - raidicy 2y agoI'm really tired to this might not make sense; My pet theory is that Satoshi is actually named after the main character from Pokemon[1]. Which is also the name of the creator of pokemon[2]. And the creator created Bitcoin and other derivatives with the game theory he came up with and refined in the Pokemon series. (Addictive,'gotta catch em all' shitcoins) [1]https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Ash_Ketchum https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Ash_Ketchum If you click on the link and look at the character image it'll say Satoshi And ash Ketchum. - k310 2y agoAccording to one auto maker, it's constructed from Samsung, Toshiba, Nakamichi, and Motorola. https://i.ibb.co/XpgV6J5/IMG-0693.jpg https://i.ibb.co/XpgV6J5/IMG-0693.jpg

- cheaprentalyeti 2y agoIf you want another crackpot theory.... there's an anime called "Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi" where the main character, named Satoshi, must (if I understand the plot summaries) save the multiverse by saving a shopping mall that exists across multiple timelines.
