ICE cars create costs for society in terms of pollution and health issues. According to an estimate, 5 million per year are killed by pollution from fossil fuels[1]. And that's not even measuring the impact of global warming, deaths from heat waves and hurricanes, the geopolitical dependencies on Russia and the energy needed for AC. So how about that 5 billion shortfall is made up by taxing ICE cars to encourage them to buy EVs?
