- throwbacktictac 2y agoHere is an article about it from Greenpeace. https://www.greenpeace.org/usa/energy-transfer-lawsuit-story/ https://www.greenpeace.org/usa/energy-transfer-lawsuit-story...
- defrost 2y agoTwo key paragraphs: Energy Transfer’s lawsuit alleges several Greenpeace entities incited the Dakota Access protests, funded attacks to damage the pipeline, and spread misinformation about the company and its project. The case is set for trial in February in a North Dakota state court, where both sides expect a fossil-fuel-friendly jury. Energy Transfer is seeking $300 million in damages, which would likely wipe out Greenpeace USA, according to the group’s leadership. Deepa Padmanabha, Greenpeace USA’s acting co-executive director, said the lawsuit is “an existential threat” to the group. The group says it played a limited role in the protests. Greenpeace has a good point, the Native American protesters did a pretty damn good job raising awareness and digging in to stop progress. - basementcat 2y agoIf you work hard and provide value to society, you may be able to deploy your hard earned wealth to shop for a favorable jury and obtain judicial outcomes that you believe you're entitled to.
- jjeaff 2y agoNo need to risk an unfavorable jury now. You just judge shop by going to a district with a single crooked judge like in Amarillo.
- MBRTexas 2y agoYou have managed to choose one of the few cases that reasonably isn’t jury shopping. The alleged infractions occurred in North Dakota and the pipeline is, (as much as it is anywhere)in North Dakota.

- roshin 2y agoAssuming you're all for Greenpeace's agenda, would bankruptcy really be that bad? It's not like they have that many assets. Someone can buy the IP for cheap (or create a new name) and do the same exact type of activism. They can even recruit the same activists who volunteered with Greenpeace. Obviously a reorganization will be annoying, but it doesn't sound like the end of Greenpeace activities.
