People have already been building auth flows that take this password amnesia into consideration. Look at Anthropic. It's just one way of doing auth and I personally hate it.
- voiper1 2y agoI use a password manager. I don't like flipping back to my email, I already have a secure password.
- cpach 2y agoSame here! But for most apps we are probably in the 0,1% or so.
- ydnaclementine 2y agoThe most secure password is no password
- hansvm 2y agoTotally agreed. The account though, that's another question. Would you mind sharing the username of your favorite passwordless account?
- rembicilious 2y agoPersonally, I don’t care to share the username to any account, password protected or not. On a related note I think it is terrible security to have display name be the same as user login name.
- doctorpangloss 2y agoAnthropic and others do this to inconvenience account sharing. It’s not really about auth, it’s about licenses…
- archerx 2y agoThere are much smarter ways of doing this.
