IIRC, I think the standards committee does have “is it in a commercial implementation and has it been commonly used?” as a standard for evaluating features - although I’m not sure whether than refers to GNU C extensions (for example), or to ideas lifted from other manually managed languages like Rust etc. …although I’ll admit that didn’t quite feel the case for type generic macros.
