As someone who made this transition years ago, I would say is that the easiest way is to transition into Product management (PdM) within your existing employer. Failing that, look to switch employers to find an organisation that you can start as a SE and transition into PdM - when they ask you "where do you see yourself in 3 years time" then you say "I want to move out of SE into PdM"
- mettamage 2y agoI'm currently unemployed. This means there's no entry level product management role I presume. I don't mind doing software engineering again. Spelunking through codebases is fun and building out features is fun. It's just that... I wish there was a bit more interdisciplinary thinking required.
