CA Governor seeks to harness the power of GenAI to address homelessness
- paulproteus 2y agoI hope the CA Governor can use GenAI to auto-respond to NIMBYs who block housing development in CA. It would be a time-saving measure for state housing departments who are already very busy.

- JasserInicide 2y agoThe 200 previous initiatives CA has tried didn't work...but surely this one will!
- slantedview 2y agoHomeless people need housing, it's not rocket science. The rest of this proposal is fluff.
- mrinfinitiesx 2y agoLiterally says nothing informative on how it will or aims to other than 300 different buzzwords on 'innovative' and 'collaborate' with looking at things like traffic congestion, how to find people homes faster, language accessibility. Then it talks about 'first of its kind partnership with Nvidia' while an ongoing DOJ investigation looms. The optimist in me wants to believe there'll be any help on this front, but then I remember Newsom ordering police to remove all the encampments a month ago: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/california-governor-orders-state-agencies-remove-homeless-encampments-rcna163684 https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/california-governor-ord... Whole thing reads like a generated PR AI content. Ctrl+F 'home' and you can see, even the article doesn't give a damn to address homelessness. More lies. More bullshit. It's a PR thing with housing stuff slapped on it to announce a partnership with Nvidia and invite CA LLM engineers to submit their stuff so they can probably buy them up for pennies on the dime.
- tivert 2y agoFor purely entertainment value, I wish Gavin Newsom was running for president.
- fragmede 2y agoHe's totally setting himself up to run in a couple of cycles.
- jacknews 2y agoAddress the problem, or offload it? What if AI just says build more homes and make them affordable? Are they going to do that?
- more_corn 2y agoSometimes you just need an outsider to tell you the thing you could have figured out for yourself.
- josefritzishere 2y agoAI is virtual, the need for housing is physical. The concept is utter nonsense.
