I would totally accept there is a legitimate market for watches in the tens of thousands - millions of dollars, and people who can acquire that legitimately. But I have also seen many luxury watches in particular be a vector for identifying corruption, so I would expect a lot more corruption-funded purchases especially given how conveniently you can move hundreds of thousands of dollars in that form-factor.
