ESPN to publish AI-generated recaps for women's soccer, pro lacrosse recaps
- starkparker 2y agoESPN is being reamed on social media for this: https://x.com/ESPNFrontRow/status/1831718630490337636 https://x.com/ESPNFrontRow/status/1831718630490337636 The original thumbnail[1] of the social post included errors about the teams being recapped, such as inconsistencies in the recap's description and team records (which, even if they're a mockup, also don't align with the season in progress). The NWSL in particular has long been covered by volunteers, largely now-dead SBNation fan blogs that platformed the few writers who have since been paid (one of them employed by ESPN as of today) to cover it. Almost any content prior to 2019 used to train any model was likely written by someone who wasn't paid for their work. 1: https://x.com/EndweII/status/1831730924251197602 https://x.com/EndweII/status/1831730924251197602
