VPN users fared better during internet slowdown: report
- ryzvonusef 2y ago> The authors used two open-source tools — M.Lab Network Diagnostic Tool (NDT) and Measurement Swiss Army Knife (MSAK) — to check the differences in download and upload speeds, latency and retransmission rates on fixed and mobile broadband, both with and without VPNs. > When tested using NDT, the download speed on fixed broadband without a VPN was 20.42 megabytes per second and 0.48mbps on MSAK. When connected to a VPN, the speeds increased to 56.95mbps and 27.31mbps, respectively. ____ Basically, our govt bought the firewall software from China and tried to implement it. But because all our talent has emigrated abroad, our dunderheads were unable to actually implement it and as a result have caused a MASSIVE internet blockage all over Pakistan. Our IT minister claimed the blockage was due to VPN use (or sharks, depending on the mood of the day) and well, this is a rebutal. I thought I'd share for HN users who might be interested in networks.
